Noon by Noor Fall/Winter 2013

This show marks this middle east-based design house’s second time showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The overall feel is always “the Middle East meets the Upper East Side.” This season, the designers used their own country, the Kingdom of Bahrain, as their source of inspiration. “A small island kingdom in the Arabian Gulf was the starting point for the Fall/Winter 2013 collection, with the natural flora and fauna of the designers’ homeland playing an integral role,” states the accompanying information page with the run of show. Highly masculine and structured skirts and pantsuits made their way down the runway. Then “ultra feminine gowns” came down the runway that juxtaposes the strong silhouettes that came down first.

Ruffian unveils nail colors. After there stunning Fall/Winter show, Ruffian has teamed up with Birchbox and had their fans choose three of the above colors in a poll on their Facebook page.

“We are [pleased] to launch our collection of nail polish nationwide to the 500,000 subscribers of Birchbox,” said Brian Wolk, co-creative director of Ruffian via WWD

Having the Ruffian nail colors will make it easier to get a Ruffian manicure, the infamous two-color reverse moon design.

The colors will become available in September 2013 when they are mailed to Birchbox subscribers. They will also be seen on models at the Ruffian runway show.

RUFFIAN FALL/WINTER 2013

Ruffian took us to the Bowery for their Fall/Winter 2013 collection. “It’s history for vice and entertainment, theatre, saloons, and opium dens juxtaposed with its current street savvy constituency made for a fertile playground that inspired our rich textiles, opulent embroidery, English tailoring, and soft ethereal silhouettes,” the brand says about their inspiration. The looks were every-changing. First feminine, then very masculine and then a hint of old English as a corset had been added over a pantsuit look. Cropped jackets pants were out in full as well. The Ruffian boys always played with a lot of geometric prints this seasons. Additionally, a western saloon-esque look was easily upgraded to look modern by the addition of peplum to accentuate the waist.

NAUTICA MEN’S BLACK SAIL COLLECTION

Nautica was just the right amount of menswear I needed in a day. I already have my eyes on some pieces that I want to do own and do a couple personal style looks with.

Nautica in past seasons had held a presentation, but I very much enjoyed this runway show. This collection is perfect to take you from late fall and all the way through winter. From puffer jackets to trousers, Nautica has everything you need.
